6) Mexico:

Mexico is a country with a long history of government corruption. From its independence in 1821 until the present day, Mexico has been plagued by reports of bribery and embezzlement, as well as the misuse of public funds.

One of the most infamous examples of government corruption in Mexico was the scandal surrounding former President Enrique Peña Nieto’s administration. Peña Nieto and his team were accused of taking millions of dollars in bribes from Brazilian construction company Odebrecht for the construction of a high-speed train connecting Mexico City and Queretaro.

Furthermore, members of the Peña Nieto administration were also embroiled in a series of fraudulent real estate deals involving luxury properties. Another prominent example of corruption in the Mexican government can be found in the case of former Governor of Veracruz, Javier Duarte, who is accused of embezzling millions of dollars of public funds and is currently being detained in Guatemala.

Mexico is also known for its widespread practice of nepotism and cronyism. This means that certain well-connected individuals are often favoured in terms of job promotions and contracts, allowing them to enrich themselves at the expense of the public.
