13) UK:

The United Kingdom has also had its fair share of scandals involving corruption in government. Notable among these was the cash-for-questions scandal. In the 1990s, two members of the House of Commons were found to have been taking money to ask questions in parliament which were favourables to the giver of the money.

This scandal was an egregious example of how politicians can easily be bought by private interests to push their own agendas.

More recently, the UK has been rocked by the Grenfell Tower disaster, as well as other cases of corruption in local governments. In the wake of the fire, local councils were found to have mismanaged funds and created unsafe living conditions for their residents. This highlighted a culture of apathy and disregard for public welfare among certain government officials.

And, of course, there have been numerous cases of bribery and kickbacks involving the UK’s leaders over the years. These include an incident where a former Prime Minister was found to have taken a donation in exchange for policy favouring a large corporation.
