The United States of America has had numerous cases of government corruption over the years, however, the most recent one was the scandal involving President Trump.

In 2016, President Trump was implicated in a bribery case which revealed that he had hired a foreign national to give his presidential campaign damaging information on his political opponent.

This scandal was made public and led to his impeachment by the House of Representatives. The scandal highlighted the need for greater governmental transparency and accountability. It also revealed the tactics used by political operatives and business leaders to influence elections and important policy decisions, often through bribery and using “dark money”.

Dark money is money, usually from corporations or wealthy individuals, which is given with the sole purpose of influencing a particular outcome. In addition, the case exposed the extreme lengths to which certain individuals will go in order to get ahead, often to the detriment of the country.

And it also created distrust in the government, as the people felt their voices were not represented or protected.
