Dental tourism in Skopje is fast becoming increasingly popular for many tourists who visit North Macedonia.
With the cost of cosmetic dentistry in western countries becoming extremely expensive, more and more people are opting to travel to Eastern Europe for affordable treatment and a cheap vacation at the same time.
I didn’t intend to add a post to our blog about medical or dental tourism in Skopje. However after having dental treatment done myself and experiencing first hand what it is like to have dental treatment abroad while visiting Skopje.
I feel that I can write about my own personal experience about dental tourism in Skopje
Firstly, the quality of dental treatment at a dental clinic in Macedonia is not only as good, but in some cases more advanced than what is offered in some western countries.
Most dentists in North Macedonia have spent time studying, training or working in the USA, Europe or Australia.
The only thing that is not the same is the cost, in Skopje or anywhere else in North Macedonia the prices are much lower, a fraction of what you would pay at home, but with the same level of care.
Cosmetic Dental Treatments in Skopje
- Tooth Implant or Dental implants can be used to replace a single lost tooth or a number of teeth. Implant supported teeth look, feel and function like your own natural teeth, they preserve the facial structure and improve the appearance and function of the jaw
- A Tooth Filling fills in cavities or holes caused by tooth decay. Tooth-colour fillings are made of composite resins; they look natural unlike silver amalgam fillings
- Tooth Veneers or dental veneers are available to correct stained, chipped, or crooked teeth
- A Dental Bridge is for replacing a missing teeth.
- Tooth Crowns or dental caps are completely covering a tooth or dental implant. Patients need Dental crowns for decayed, broken or brittle teeth. You can choose from either plastic, porcelain or metal compounds
- You will need Root Canal treatment when the nerve or blood supply of the tooth known as the pulp has an infection through injury or decay
- Tooth whitening with laser treatment or with a gel and applicator set, that are available from dentists in Skopje.
Where to go for Dental Tourism in Skopje
The hardest part is deciding which dental clinic in Skopje to go to.
After researching lots of different dental clinics online I was still unsure where to go as there are so many dental clinics throughout Skopje.
I was lucky enough to find out that the host of the apartment in Skopje where we were staying is very good friend with the woman that owns Dentist Skopje – Studio Dentistico, Dr. Pepi Nineska.
We went one night for a drink, my hosts and myself and she joined with her husband. During the evening I found out that she owns a dental clinic and made my appointment for the next day.

They are offering affordable dentistry in a friendly, professional, honest and caring service, not only for tourists but locals alike.
From personal experience, the team were honest and only advised me to have work done to prevent any further complications. They didn’t try to persuade me to have extra work done on my teeth that I really didn’t need, just what was necessary.
Most importantly I felt comfortably in knowing that someone that I know and trust had been to this dental clinic and was extremely happy with the treatment and outcome of the dental treatment.
